Gastronorm containers (GN) are an indispensable part of any gastronomic kitchen. In a professional kitchen, there are never enough GN containers or trays. Using GN trays with the same dimensions makes work in the kitchen more efficient. Because GN containers are stackable, they are ideal for storage and take up little space in the kitchen. This lid is transparent and is also made of polycarbonate to match the polycarbonate GN containers from Maxima.
What is Gastronorm?
Gastronorm is a worldwide standard for the dimensions of these containers. The big advantage is that, thanks to the same dimensions, you can use them in combination with a lot of gastronomic equipment. For example, GN containers are suitable for use in ovens, refrigerators, freezers, salad cabinets, display cases, bain-maries and even in chafing dishes. Using GN containers with the same dimensions makes work in the kitchen more efficient. In addition, GN containers meet European requirements for food safety.
Advantages of polycarbonate
The use of polycarbonate in GN containers and lids offers many advantages. For example, this material is almost indestructible and thanks to its transparency, you can see through it from all sides, so you know what the contents of the container are. In addition, it is an odorless and tasteless material that does not absorb these properties from food. However, the biggest advantage is that it is easy to clean. Polycarbonate GN containers and lids are dishwasher safe, dry quickly and withstand temperatures from -40 to 100 °C.
